"Reality that is common, but never ordinary"
Born in Tabriz, a city located in northwest part of Iran, Mahnaz Assadi moved to Tehran at a young age and lived most of her youth in the capital. She achieved her degree in English Translation and then moved to America in search for higher education and better opportunities. After receiving her teaching degree from University of Texas in Dallas the self taught artist quit the teaching profession to become a full time painter. she has been painting vigorously since 2016 and today she is recognized by some art critics as a rising talent in the US artistic landscape. She works in a number of styles from abstraction to portraiture, still-life and cityscapes.
Critics have defined her as being a "natural colourist" and her works as having a "beguiling innocence". She has taken part in public exhibitions in her adopted city, and is looking to exhibit her works more widely
